Dr. Katie Coleman

Katie was born in Louisville KY, went to undergrad in Greenville, SC at Furman University, where she majored in Biology. She then went to Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine for her veterinary education, and graduated in 2016. She did a one year equine ambulatory and hospital internship at Blue Ridge Equine Clinic in Charlottesville, VA, and since then she has been a veterinarian at Premier Equine Veterinary Service. Katie grew up riding horses and loved learning all about horsemanship and horse care in Pony Club. After dealing with some major veterinary concerns with one of her own horses as a teen she realized that she wanted to be able to help horses as a vet too.

Katie loves learning to work with them as individuals with their own quirks and personalities, and also helping their owners to give them the best life possible. During her internship, some of the long days followed by long nights of treatment could be grueling. However, she still was always looking forward to learning more, and felt so much reward when she got to help a happy owner reunite with their horse and take them home after they recovered. Katie knew if  she could feel rewarded and happy with her work even when so tired, it must be right! Katie enjoys working with horse owners to figure out what helps their horse do best for where they are in life. For a young competing horse that might mean the right diet and maintenance to make them comfortable in their work, while for an older retired horse that could mean helping with general arthritis and Katie’s husband, Stephen, is a small animal veterinarian in the area as well. They love spending time outdoors, including hiking, kayaking, skiing, swimming, sailing, or just walking the forest preserves and arboretum. They also love traveling to visit new places!

Dr. Katyana Palafox

Katyana Palafox is an Associate Veterinarian at Premier Equine and Paws Veterinary Service. She attended the University of Illinois, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and went on to earn her doctorate degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Katyana is passionate about veterinary medicine because it allows her to help animals who cannot fully express where a problem resides. Her favorite thing about working with animals is pinpointing a certain issue that is causing an animal discomfort and then giving relief to that animal through medical intervention. Katyana’s professional interests are ophthalmology and equine reproduction.

She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), and the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA). She finds ophthalmology particularly interesting because she has some eye issues and fully understands how stressful it can be when you cannot see the world clearly. Equine reproduction is also an area of interest for Katyana because it’s a delicate game of timing and manipulation, and it’s so worth it in the end when a foal is born, knowing she had a hand in producing that new life. Outside of work, Katyana enjoys making things. She spends her free time drawing, painting, sewing, or just straight up crafting. She also loves attending and listening to musical theater productions. In undergrad, she was heavily involved in scenic design and helped build the sets for several musical productions as the technical director.

Dr. Agne Stoskute

Dr. Agne, an Associate Veterinarian who embarked on her professional journey in Fall 2023, has a rich background rooted in her love for animals and a passion for veterinary medicine. Hailing from St. Charles, IL, she pursued her bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia, marking the beginning of her academic journey. Dr. Agne then returned to her home state, attending the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.

Before joining the esteemed team at Premier Paws, Dr. Agne honed her skills in small animal medicine in downtown Chicago. Her initial foray into veterinary medicine was sparked by a research project focusing on reproduction in dairy cows, an experience that ignited her interest in the field. Driven by a desire to explore the diverse facets of veterinary medicine, she found joy in solving medical problems and aiding pets on their path to recovery.

For Dr. Agne, the pinnacle of professional satisfaction is hearing owners express that their pets feel better under her care. This profound connection with both animals and their owners affirmed her conviction that she had found the right profession.

A dedicated member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA), Dr. Agne channels her professional interests towards internal medicine and dentistry. She also has a keen focus on geriatric care, striving to enhance the quality of life for pets grappling with chronic diseases.

Dr. Agne’s interests extend to cooking and exploring the natural beauty of national parks through her travels.
